Posted By : Frank vozak Posted : 8/10/2010 Comments : Our dog Puglie could not wait to see Dr Kathy even if he had to have a painful procedure because she is such a dog person . Dr Fox has figured out so many remedies for problems, even teaching us that Gas-X would fix the pug's problems. And when our dear Pugslie came to the end of his life he helped me to be able to let go whe n i was keeping the pug alive for my needs not his best interest. Dr kathy and Dr Fox were so incredibly supportive when my wife and I had to let go and and let him die in comfort to end his suffering. And they are both just as wonderful with our new dog Shimon. The clinic is well worth the drive from southeast Oak Park to get the best possible care for our "children"

They have been there for me through the thick and thin of it all and I couldn't imagine ever having a pet without them! Kudos to EGAH for top notch docs, top notch staff and a top notch facility!
Posted By : Lisa Dzugan Posted : 7/14/2010 Comments : I have been a regular of the Elmwood Grove Animal Hospital since June 1994. I have moved over the years from Chicago to Elgin to Fox Lake and I will continue to see Dr. Fox and his staff no matter when I go. I have always been able to count on the best quality care with all my furry kids. Dr. Fox, Dr. Heneghan, and Dr. Haynes, truly love what they do and I am grateful that they love and respect each furry kid that is brought in for treatment. I appreciate their kindness, tenderness, and genuine concern for each member of my clan. They have put up with a crazy pet mom for years, and I know I can count on them for their expertise, advice, and comfort. I am grateful to have such wonderful people take care of my kids and I am always assured they will get the best treatment that's available. Thank you to all the doctor's and the staff at Elmwood Grove Animal Hospital. You are tops in our book.

Posted By : Koko Puff Posted : 2/6/2010 Comments : The staff is what truly makes EGAH the best!
We've been regulars since 2008 when one of our trainers recommended Dr. Heneghan for Koko's behavioral and gastrointestinal issues. Up until that point we had no luck, lots of vet bills and continued diarrhea. Also, Koko's issues had been chalked up to "just being crazy".
Everyone at EGAH really knows how to work with these special patients who may need "extra" help when coming in for a visit. They really help her relax and feel like she is there for fun (well, as much as possible!)
Koko is what you call a "frequent" flyer, and racks up the miles accordingly. Very often, she sees Dr. Heneghan and Dr. Haynes for non-emergencies, some which are more fun to attend than others. They are very knowledgeable, resourceful, kind and have a great sense of humor when it comes to our Koko (aka Murphy).
Dr. Fox did an excellent job with Koko's surgery in 2009 and was wonderful to speak with on the phone since I was probably as nervous as Koko, if not more and had a continuous battery of questions. He always responded timely and professionally. The incision was impeccable and she healed very fast without complication.
It is very rare these days to find one vet, much less three and a staff that really care for their patients, listen to all your concerns and work with you to figure out all the options.
They are readily accessible after hours for emergencies, you can call and talk to someone if needed before deciding on an emergency trip and they do respond via e-mail as well. Koko enjoys her Sunday night updates to Dr. Heneghan :)
Posted By : Kris and Fernanda Strobel Posted : 1/17/2010 Comments : We have been clients of EGAH since February 2006 when we got our first dog, LOLA. Unfortunately, she had Lymphoma and we had to put her down in 2008. We now have our Tobey and we keep going back to Dr. Fox and his staff. We absolutely love them and we know that not everyone can put up with me as I am a the kind of crazy owner who calls all the time and comes in for even just a sneeze!
Thank you guys!
Posted By : Frank Vozak Posted : 7/7/2009 Comments : Dr Fox was extemely kind in the last days of late dog Pugsley---I couldn't let go and wasn't fair to him but he helped me understand that. Even the euthanizing was handled in an incredibly kind way for my family and beloved dog. Dr Kathy seems to connect to dogs in a professional and an emotional way. Even when Pugsley came to see Dr Fox dr Kathy would come see him for a "social visit and a treat." Dr Fox is an impessive diagnostician. Between the two of them, the scientific knowledge and the intuitive combine to really give dogs superlative care----I hate to drive but come from southwest Oak Park driving past 8 or 10 other vets to bring my dogs for care with them. I finally had to get another dog so i could see the two of them again

Posted : 3/18/2009 Comments : The vets are what make EGAH so special. They connect with the animals in a way I have seen at no other veterinary practice. Our border collie mix dog could be aggressive, particularly when going to the vet. Dr. Heneghan was always so good to him, and very gentle and sympathetic to the fact that he was in distress. Dr. Fox really understands the dog and cat personality and is full of all sorts of ideas to help whatever problem you might be having with your pets (like overweight cats!). While we only saw Dr. Haynes once, we couldn't help but notice how gentle and kind she was. These vets are extremely knowledgeable about medical conditions. We brought one of our senior cats in for a check-up, and mentioned how hungry he suddenly was all of the time and that he had been losing weight. It turned out to be a hyperactive thyroid, and one month later, he is now doing extremely well on medication.
It is a little expensive...but, you get what you pay for. We went to other vets before finding this practice, and had some very sad experiences with conditions that were under-diagnosed. EGAH seems to have top-of-the-line diagnostic equipment (which is expensive), and they always take the time to really consider all options about whatever seems to be hurting the animal. We have recommended this practice to people who have been left unsatisfied by other vets. One of our relatives was shocked to find that her Yorkshire terrier had a very large growth in her abdomen, which had been undiagnosed by another vet. It is a relief to know that your animals are being well taken care of, and I always feel that they are at EGAH.

Posted : 12/12/2008 Comments : I have been seeing Dr. Heneghan since I got MaGee at 6 weeks of age. I view Dr "H" not just as a vet, but as a trusted friend, that I have 100% complete faith in when it comes to my dog. Her compassion and care for animals is second to none. She is also "Pitbull friendly" which as a rescuer of Pitbulls makes her an angel on earth, as these poor dogs need all the help they can get. MaGee is now coming up on 12 years of age and he doesn't move as quick as he once did but he has always been treated with great care at Elmgrove, and with Elmgroves help I hope to have him around for a few more years. Elmgrove and Dr. H. will be my vet for as long as I have a dog, regardless of the distance needed to travel to them. That should be at least another 15 years, since the new pup "Diesel" arrived. LOL. I have also had the good fortune of having Dr Haynes work with Diesel on his last couple of visits. She is a great addition to the doctors there, and her love of animals shows in her smile and her attitude.
Also, I would like to say that the staff there is second to none. How often can you call a place that services hundreds of people and they know you by your first name, or your pets first name? Liz has been there ever since MaGee's first visit and her knowledge is plainly evident when you ask her questions over the phone.
So if anyone reading this is looking for a staff that CARES about the animals and their owners, look no further!
Sincerely,
Robert Chirempes

Albino skunk,Flower(when the law permitted me to have one)Elizabeth, a baby Raccoon,Vietnamese pot belly pig, Willoboughy, plus ALL OF THE ASSORTED CATS AND DOGS OVER THE YEARS, since 1970. Dr.Fox was so kind and considerate to my family, especially when my son passed away in April, 1979, making a special stop to visit during that very sad time. Larry is just wonderful as is Dr. Hennegan, and Dr. Haynes. I truly love them. Hugs and kisses to all. Happy Holidays 2008
